Look back at the document 'The Ignorance of Crowds' which takes a critical/skeptical view of Wikinomics/We-Think theories. How does this 'mass collaboration' media venture compare with Nicholas Carr's views?

Take a look at the BBC website for more info... oh and did this 'movie' ever get finished?????

To push or pull that is the question...

Online media is fundamentally different to the 'old skool' model... think pick 'n mix as opposed to a closed box of Milk Tray

The key word here is choice... there's loads of it... you can pull what you want rather rather than just accept what you're pushed. Terrestrial TV in lounge with Five channels = you have to accept what's being pushed to you. Net TV on the otherhand... you can surf for hours and pull what ever content your heart desires.

Charles Leadbeater says that new media technology is radically changing the way audiences interact with media products; Myspace, Youtube, Facebook etc are turning an audience of consumers into an audience of producers. Find out more at his site: www.charlesleadbeater.net

Charles Leadbeater has coined the term 'we-think'; he states that the world is changing because of Web 2.0 and 'creative collaboration' between Internet users. Creative collaboration and we-think is when ideas are shared and discussed online. Users share their ideas and creative projects for recognition rather than for money.
Example of 'creative collaboration' and we-think:
  1. Second Life;
  2. Wikipedia;
  3. Linux software;
  4. Linux games - http://www.linux.org/apps/all/Entertainment/3D_Games.html
  5. World of Warcraft - http://www.worldofwarcraft.com/community/stories/stories.xml
  6. You Tube;
  7. Vimeo

Charles Leadbeater's ideas are changing the video games industry. The audience for video games, especially the core gamers, are sharing ideas, cheats and releasing 'patches' online that alter or remix the gaming experience.

The gaming industry are actively trying to foster and encourage user-generated ideas as this helps them to develop their games.

Charles Leadbeater's ideas about we-think and creative collaboration are revolutionising the video games industry and the wider media landscape.
